There's a video out in the internet somewhere shows a badger burying a cow! That was my first thought. Do you have them where you are? I have 2 living - burrowing on my prairie land near the Mission Mountains of western Montana. I found your blog while searching for 'otter tracks on hard snow' as I found some of those this morning coming from my tiny creek. Thanks for your blog!Lori Parrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15327287077480864866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4467639457561440475.post-77331317213175741102015-05-14T20:08:41.707-07:002015-05-14T20:08:41.707-07:00I got out to the kill site on the 28th and it look...I got out to the kill site on the 28th and it looks like a bobcat killed the deer. Most of the torso had been parked under junipers, not dragged out in the open like a coyote might do, and I found what looks like old bobcat scat next to what remains of the deer's stomach. So thanks for the tip! This was a tough place for me to get to, low bushes and deep snow. I can get back there now and check for scats etc. I do the miss the winter already, at least for tracking. I enjoyed your blog. Nature is writ large out West! Around my parts the turkeys seem difficult for predators to catch. I've seen only 3 turkey kills: one unknown, one by a bobcat, and one this winter by a long-tailed weasel.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
